Re: RedNailz Intro
Welcome Tee. I felt the same way when I learned of my 4/4 status. But, when I examined things closer, I found more clues like the ones Starfish supplied. Some died young before symptoms could show. Maybe Grandpa's old age "goofiness" was something more, etc. ...and if anyone needs a little...

Re: EDS/Connective Tissue Disorder & Alzheimer's
Very kind of you to inquire, Circ. He's only had one surgery to date, but it's been rough going as would be expected with his other DXes. He's only been able to attend school for a few hours since...Sigh. My son ended up dropping out of school for almost an entire year at the same age. Following a G...

Me too I've heard the same from other 4/4s...
I always thought that was from the autonomic dysfunction end of things. Another "automatic" process that went awry like the HR, BP, GI, stuff. My son, 3/4, has dealt with this his whole life. Interesting to see the E4 connection.

And then there's this http://epirev.oxfordjournals.org/content/36/1/83.short "Our findings support current recommendations that hormone therapy should NOT be used to prevent dementia." Least we fail to muddy the waters ;) Silver will soon be weighing in with some opinions from various expe...

Re: RedNailz Intro
Welcome, Red! So nice to have you here. I'm especially sorry to hear of your family history, but so proud of YOU for taking proactive steps. I'm also a fellow 4/4 and was also initially devastated to learn of my status. I'm finally at the point where I'm feeling grateful for the knowledge; knowledge...

Re: Janelle's Lipid Results
Good for you for getting a baseline, Janelle. Traditionally, I've read that exercise and a little bit of wine is good for getting HDL up. (Alcohol, however, is a mixed bag for us.) I drink a small amount (3oz) of dry red wine and also eat freely of EVOO, olives, and avocados to raise my HDL. It was ...

...having studied populations of the long-lived for nearly a decade Have you found any populations with a high ApoE4 prevalence that are long-lived? The best I could find was a village in England called Montecute. http://www.alongerhealthylife.com/longevity-village/montacute-england-longevity-hotsp...
